Mel Annala is a Minnesota folk singer whose musical journey began in West Duluth, where he picked up his first guitar at age 12 in 1963. One of his earliest groups, the folk trio Scarcity of Time, performed protest songs during the late 1960s alongside high school friends John Sorenson and Phil Jewell. Annala has continued performing in bands throughout the years and has been a solo artist since 2006. His music captures the spirit of traditional folk, brought to life through warm vocals and skilled acoustic guitar work. His 2012 album, In Your Eyes, features a blend of traditional folk songs, cover tunes, and original compositions, reflecting a lifetime dedicated to folk music and storytelling.
Preston Gunderson is a Minneapolis-based singer-songwriter and dynamic performer known for his heartfelt voice and emotionally resonant live shows. A fixture in the Twin Cities music scene for over a decade, he began performing at just 15 in the bars of Northern Minnesota’s Iron Range, where he developed his grit and deep connection to live audiences.
His sound has evolved from early pop influences into a more introspective and nuanced style, grounded in honest storytelling and memorable melodies. Whether delivering an intimate acoustic set or fronting a full band, Gunderson’s music explores heartbreak, resilience, and hope—bringing a sense of light even to his most vulnerable songs.
Jerry Frasier is an impressive, unique and unforgettable. His interactive, comedic style brings audience participation to a new level. With a distinctive voice and energetic personality, Jerry positively embraces and audience with anything-can-happen clean comedy. Will Durie, Originally from Hibbing, Minnesota, Will is an award-winning singer-songwriter whose music blends folk, rock, and pop with memorable melodies and thoughtful lyrics. A first-place winner of the 2022 Duluth Dylan Fest Songwriters Contest and a graduate of Columbia University, Will now performs throughout the Twin Cities while bringing a distinctly Minnesota perspective to his songwriting.

A native Minnesotan with Iron Range family roots tracing back to Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast, Sam blends traditional Eastern European and Balkan folk music with the creativity and improvisation of jazz. Backed by a group of accomplished professional musicians, Miletići brings fresh energy to centuries-old songs, creating a unique sound that celebrates heritage, storytelling, and musical tradition. Amber Johnson and the dancers of Downtown Dance Academy! Based right here in Virginia, Minnesota, Downtown Dance Academy has been inspiring young dancers through performance, creativity, and a love of the arts for many years. Under Amber’s direction, dancers develop confidence, teamwork, and strong technical skills while sharing their passion for dance with audiences throughout the Iron Range. These talented performers are excited to bring their energy, dedication, and love of dance to the Land of the Loon Festival.

Pastor Lisa Vick is a lifelong United Methodist and graduated from United Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota, in 2007. She grew up on a farm northeast of Montevideo and most recently came to Virginia from Owatonna. Lisa is delighted to be serving the Virginia community, getting to know its people, and becoming part of local traditions—including trying to figure out exactly what the “an’” means in Coffee an’! Her faith, rural roots, and passion for building relationships help guide her ministry as she serves and connects with the community.
